Why can’t I install Linux on my hard drive?

I'm trying to install Linux Fedora using a bootable hard drive created with Rufus, but my hard drive doesn't appear when I attempt the full installation. I also tried installing Ubuntu, but I encountered an error that stopped the installation process. This is my first time using Linux, and I'm working with a 1TB HDD. Any advice on how to troubleshoot this?

Have you tried checking the hard drive's health? If it's failing or has bad sectors, that could prevent Linux from installing properly. Also, could you share what error you saw when trying to install Ubuntu? More details could help pinpoint the problem!

I didn't get a specific error code; it just said the installation failed without much detail.

It sounds like your boot drive might not be set up correctly or that your HDD isn't showing due to BIOS settings. Make sure you're booting from the USB drive in your BIOS/UEFI settings. Also, if you can, try connecting your computer to the internet via an Ethernet cable during installation as it can help resolve issues. And remember to remove the boot media after the install is complete! Good luck!
