I've got a movie (sub)folder on my external hard drive that seems to have vanished into thin air when I connect it to my PC. It's definitely still there because my TV can see and play the files without any issue. But when I'm on my computer, it's as if the folder simply doesn't exist. I've checked everything—I know for sure it's not hidden, it's not in the Recycle Bin, and searches yield zero results regardless of what terms I use, both indexed and non-indexed. I'm feeling completely stumped and could really use some help!

It sounds frustrating! Have you checked if the folder might have been renamed to something invisible? Sometimes, special characters in folder names can cause weird display issues. You mentioned it's not hidden, but just double-check your settings to ensure you’re viewing all files. Remember, Windows can have hidden files that it doesn’t display even when that option is enabled. It's strange that your TV can find it while your PC cannot!
What types of files can the TV access? Are they movies or music? If you're searching the same titles on your PC, what happens? Also, quick question—are you sure you activated the setting to view hidden files? Just want to make sure!
Strangely enough, searching for specific file names from the TV doesn’t turn up anything on the PC. Even when I try searching using the exact folder name, it just... doesn’t show up!
What file format is your external drive? Are you sure it only has a single partition? It might be worth checking disk management to see if anything looks off. If you're not worried about the data on the drive, you could wipe it using the diskpart command and then recreate the partition. Just a thought!
It’s formatted as NTFS with one partition, which is the default. Everything looks normal except for that one elusive folder. I’m seriously considering wiping it clean since there’s nothing too important on it.

I’ve done all that! Hidden files/folders are set to show, and even searching for the exact names yields nothing. Thanks for the input though!
