I just finished building my first PC, but I've run into a weird issue. At home, I connected my GPU using both HDMI and DisplayPort to my monitor, but I got a "No signal detected" message along with an indicator light showing "VGA Failure". Since the onboard graphics worked, I checked the GPU and discovered it wasn't being detected at all, even though everything else like the RAM and CPU showed up fine. However, when I brought it to work, my coworker plugged it in and it fired right up without any issues. We easily installed the Nvidia drivers afterward. One of my friends thinks maybe I was using a low power outlet at home, while another insists the GPU might be faulty since it's from Zotac. I'm planning to test it again at home tonight and hope it works. Does anyone have insights on what could be causing this? Did one of my friends hit the nail on the head?

Make sure that power cable from the power supply to the GPU is fully seated. Those connections can sometimes look snug but aren't actually making contact. It’s a common hiccup, especially with new builds.
The outlet shouldn't be an issue unless it’s tripping breakers, but it sounds like a reseating problem. Sometimes during transportation, components can jiggle loose. I’d recommend pulling out the GPU and reseating it to ensure it's firmly in place. When I had a similar issue, just reseating it fixed everything for me.
Thanks for the advice! My coworker is going to help me reseat it today before I head home. I did hear a click when I installed it, but it was a tight fit, and I was a bit nervous about forcing it. I'll make sure it’s secure this time.
What motherboard are you using? A compatibility issue could definitely cause detection problems. Knowing more about the setup can help diagnose it further—sometimes the motherboard is the culprit in these cases.
I totally forgot to mention it! I’m using the Asus B650 E Max Gaming WiFi TUF. I got it in a bundle with my CPU and RAM, and I checked compatibility with PCPartPicker. Thanks for pointing that out!

I’ll double-check that. My coworker is taking the cables home later, so we’ll unplug and replug everything. I tried securing everything last night, but I’ll keep an eye on it!
