Hey everyone! I bought an Intel Core i5-14600K about three months back for around $175, but I just noticed that the price has skyrocketed to $300. What's causing this sudden price surge in the CPU market? Is it affecting all computer hardware, including RAM, which I've heard is also getting really pricey? Will prices ever return to normal, and are there any other Intel 14th generation CPUs compatible with LGA 1700 sockets that still offer good value? Appreciate any insights!

It seems like the i5-14600K might be out of production and nearing end of life. This usually leads to increased prices as inventory runs low. In my area, alternatives like the 14600 and 14600KF are still available at more reasonable prices, so you might want to consider those.
There might be a trend where people upgrading their DDR4 systems are moving from 12th and 13th gen CPUs to 14th gen to maximize performance. The same kind of price hikes are happening with AMD CPUs like the 5700X3D and 5800X3D, which are also no longer being produced.
The 14th gen CPUs work with both DDR4 and DDR5 memory, but with DDR5 prices skyrocketing, sticking with DDR4 could be a smart move. Unfortunately, RAM prices are climbing rapidly as well; I bought 32GB DDR4 for a steal last year, and now it’s over twice that!
