Why Do My Games Perform Poorly Until I Open Task Manager?

I've noticed some weird performance issues while gaming lately. Specifically, certain games drop to super low FPS, like 15 in Schedule 1, while others like Battlefront 2 run fine with 100 FPS at ultra settings. The odd part is that when I alt-tab and open Task Manager, I hear a drive (maybe my C drive?) spinning up, and then my performance issues disappear. This happens roughly every 30 minutes. At first, I suspected it was a bottleneck with my CPU or GPU, but I shouldn't have one based on my specs. I've tried various fixes, from reinstalling drivers and checking BIOS updates to testing different graphics settings and checking hardware. I'm hoping for some advice on how to diagnose this further since I'm a bit puzzled. My specs include an Intel i9-9900K CPU, 32GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA RTX 3060 graphics card with various storage drives.

It sounds like your GPU might be entering a low power mode until you alt-tab, which could explain the sudden performance boost. Check your Windows power settings; make sure it's set to high performance. If that doesn’t work, consider downgrading your graphics driver as some users have encountered similar issues before. A quick online search might yield some more specific solutions too!

Thanks for the tip! I checked the power settings, and it is on high performance. But I don't know how to roll back the drivers specifically for power settings. Any clues?
