I've been noticing a lot of posts hinting at the concentration of companies in a single AWS region. It makes me wonder why so many businesses choose to consolidate there, and why AWS even allows it. I remember someone mentioning that cloud computing's reliability is as good as its weakest link—when it fails is inevitable, right? Did these companies overlook that risk?

A lot of AWS services heavily rely on us-east-1. It's also the cheapest region, which definitely attracts users looking to save on costs. Plus, they have six Availability Zones there, so they can adjust capacity based on demand. But yeah, it seems contradictory to the idea of decentralization in cloud services after AWS's recent outages.

It's kind of ironic, isn't it? You'd expect them to be more proactive about spreading out their services after what happened.
