Why does Excel 2016 freeze on my second monitor?

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with an issue that I can't seem to fix, and I'm hoping you can help me out. At my workplace, we're still using Office 2016 on Windows 11. The problem arises when I try to open an Excel file with an extra monitor connected to my laptop. If I move the Excel window to the second monitor, it freezes and the application becomes unresponsive. Additionally, the Excel interface appears to scale larger, which seems to contribute to the issue. I've already tried reinstalling Office and even reformatting the laptop, but the problem persists. Any suggestions?

You can also try turning off hardware acceleration in Excel's settings. Sometimes that helps with freezing issues.

Another tip is to keep Adobe Reader updated, as having outdated software can sometimes cause unexpected conflicts.

Honestly, it might just be time to upgrade your software. Excel 2016 is pretty outdated, and running it on Windows 11 can lead to compatibility problems.

First, check the refresh rate of your second monitor and make sure it's set to the same as your laptop if possible. You might also want to turn off HDR if it's enabled. Plus, if you have a dedicated graphics card, ensure that all the drivers are up to date.
