Why Does My 5080 Keep Crashing During Teams Calls?

Hey folks! I've been having a frustrating experience with my 5080 graphics card, which started crashing randomly, especially when I'm on Microsoft Teams. I switched from a 3090 to this 5080 card recently, and that's when the trouble began. Initially, I noticed jerky mouse movements followed by system hangs. I tried a clean driver installation and after a GeForce update, that seemed to improve things for a bit.

But I still face issues when coming out of sleep mode or during Teams calls, where the GPU freezes. The Event Viewer keeps logging errors related to the NVidia driver (specifically Event ID 14 and ID 153) each time it crashes. I even reinstalled Windows over the weekend, and it worked fine for a while, but today, the issue struck again during my first Teams call.

Interestingly, I don't have these crashes while gaming, so I'm stumped as to why Teams specifically is causing this chaos. I've tested my GPU extensively and ChatGPT even confirmed that it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue. Nvidia offered to RMA the card, but I'd rather avoid being without it for two weeks if I can. I really could use some help or suggestions on what to do next!

It seems like you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting already! One thought I have is that Teams could be sensitive to the GPU acceleration settings. Have you tried running it in software rendering mode or just using the web version for calls? That might help avoid the GPU-related crashes.

If reinstalling Windows didn't resolve the issue, it’s possible there's a driver conflict. You might want to check if there are new Nvidia driver updates or changes in the Teams settings. Sometimes pulling back on certain features, like hardware acceleration in Teams, can really help a lot.

Yeah, I’ve tried disabling hardware acceleration but still faced issues.
