I'm experiencing an issue where my desktop background keeps reverting to a plain black color after my PC sleeps or when I switch back to the desktop from Chrome. I have Windows 11 Home on a Lenovo LOQ Tower with an AMD Zen 4 8745HX, 16GB of RAM, an SSD, and an NVIDIA RTX 5060. I've already checked the RAM and it appears to be healthy. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

Have you recently installed any unusual software? Sometimes remote access tools can cause this problem. It's worth checking your task manager to look for any unknown programs when the issue occurs. Also, don't forget to update your drivers, especially for your graphics card. You can press "Win + Ctrl + Shift + B" to refresh your GPU if it seems to be glitching.
Yes, that's exactly it! The desktop background just switches to a solid black color at random times.
This may sound odd, but sometimes a lack of RAM can cause the background to change unexpectedly, especially if you’re running memory-intensive applications. I had this happen when using some heavy software. You might find some useful tips in this guide on speeding up your PC.
Really? That's interesting. I have a new pre-built system, and the only RAM-heavy app I use right now is Chrome.
It sounds like you might have a feature activated that automatically selects backgrounds. Also, if the folder containing your background image is somehow protected or if the image was deleted, that could cause this issue. Another possibility is that your Windows activation may be acting buggy, leading it to show a black background instead. Check your settings!
After reading your comment, I did find a toggle under personalization that was set to a solid color. I switched it to selected picture, so hopefully that resolves it!
Could you provide screenshots? It's unclear what you mean by the black screen. Are you saying the background switches to just a solid black color? That would help diagnose the issue.

I tried that, and the screen flickered black for a second before returning to normal, so it seems like it could be a GPU issue.
