Why Does My Internet Keep Dropping?

I've been struggling with my internet connection for months now. It drops randomly, kicking me off whatever I'm doing, and then comes back after about 30 seconds. This happens multiple times a day. My internet provider has replaced the modem and sent several technicians, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have an idea of what might be causing this?

If multiple devices are dropping the connection, it might not be something on your end, but I’d also check if you’re using any VPNs. Cheap or overloaded VPNs can definitely cause connection issues. If everything else fails, consider talking to your neighbors to see if they’re encountering similar troubles.

You've shared that the modem has been replaced, but more specifics could help us help you. What model is your router? How are you connecting—do you have other network devices involved? Getting some details about your setup will make a big difference in diagnosing the problem.

Is this happening in your home? If there are other internet service providers available, it might be worth looking into switching since it doesn't seem to be a problem on your end. There might be issues with the connection from your ISP.

First, I’d recommend checking a few things. Are you using a wired or wireless connection? And is the issue affecting just your device or is everyone at home experiencing it too? If it’s wireless, try using your connection somewhere else to see if the problem persists. If wired, have you tried switching out the ethernet cable or plugging into a different LAN port? Making sure your setup is as simple as possible can help identify the issue.

Sounds like it could be an issue with too many devices on your network. I once worked with someone who had over 50 IoT devices, which clogged their connection. Upgrading their router to handle multiple networks fixed the issue completely. Maybe consider checking how many devices you have connected and think about either upgrading your broadband speed or getting a capable router.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Too many devices can really bog down a router, especially with gaming consoles hogging bandwidth. It might be necessary to up the internet speed or look into a better router.
