Why does my laptop overheat and shut down during gaming?

I've been dealing with a frustrating issue on my laptop for the past five years. While gaming, the fans get really loud after a short time, and then the entire laptop shuts down. However, when I'm not gaming, it works perfectly fine.

I previously bought a cooling pad, which helped a bit, and I also underclocked my laptop following some online guides. But now, nothing seems to work. My event viewer shows a "Kernel-Power Error 41," which I've read could indicate a bad power supply. I even replaced the charger and the power supply, but the problem continues. I tried updating the graphics drivers, and I cleaned out the laptop too. I can see that both fans are operating, and while some temperatures spike over 95°C, they drop back down quickly. I've basically tried everything short of sending it in for repairs or getting a new laptop. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

I feel you on this! It's like the fan is at Olympic levels! 📣 But seriously, if you’re using peripherals like a wired controller and a separate keyboard, they might draw extra power. Just something to consider!

It sounds like your laptop is definitely overheating, especially during resource-heavy tasks like gaming. Have you checked if the thermal paste needs replacing? Sometimes after a few years, it dries out and can’t effectively transfer heat anymore. Also, if it's out of warranty, investing in a new cooling system might be a wise move. It could save you from further damage or shutdowns.

I haven’t checked the thermal paste yet, but I’ll look into that. Thanks for the tip!
