Why does my Lenovo laptop shut off when I unplug it?

I'm having an issue with my Lenovo laptop where it completely shuts down as soon as I remove the charger, even though it indicates that the battery is fully charged. Typically, when charging, the battery percentage should increase, but mine isn't doing that. I've attempted to power down and restart several times, but the problem persists, and my laptop is really slow to operate. I've found some recommendations online for doing a hard reset or removing the battery, but I'm unsure about how to proceed since I'm not very tech-savvy.

I had a similar issue, and the replacement battery I got was in worse shape than the original! If you're aiming for cost, just consider replacing the laptop instead, especially if you’re not tied to it.

It’s likely that one or more cells in your battery are faulty. Replacing the battery should fix the issue, but if you're not confident in doing it yourself, it's probably best to let a pro handle the replacement.

It sounds like your battery may be dead. You should check if it's bloated or damaged when you open the case. If it’s cooked, you'll want to dispose of it safely because it can be a fire hazard.

There could be an issue with the battery or possibly the charging circuit on the motherboard. If you haven’t experienced issues like the battery disappearing from your system or having a short life while off the charger, I’d recommend taking it to a repair shop for diagnostics.
