Hi everyone! I just built a new gaming PC, and it's been running smoothly, but I've encountered a frustrating issue. Occasionally, my monitor goes completely black and stops detecting any video signal while I'm gaming. Even though the computer stays on, the fans start spinning faster. I've checked the components, and they don't feel hot at all. I've also swapped out the HDMI cable and confirmed it's securely connected to the graphics card. This issue tends to occur during more demanding games like Baldur's Gate 3, especially with some Chrome tabs open, but I don't experience it while playing lighter games like League of Legends. Here's my build for reference: [link]. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I had a similar issue a few days ago and managed to fix it by replacing the power supply unit (PSU). Whenever I started a game, my monitor showed 'DP – No Signal' and the fans would go into overdrive. Boot times were also really slow. It sounds like your PSU might be struggling under pressure too, especially if you're pushing that 5080. Might be worth checking into!
You should monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures with some software. If your PC shuts down or freezes, it's often related to the RAM or PSU. Since it happens under load, I'd lean towards it being a PSU issue or even a faulty cable causing problems.
The thing is, even though the screen goes black, I can still hear the game responding to my inputs. How can I check the temps if the monitor is off?
Make sure your graphics card is properly seated in the slot. It almost sounds like the GPU is disconnecting and the integrated graphics are kicking in. If it happens again, you could try plugging the HDMI into the motherboard instead of the graphics card, and check if the GPU fans are spinning when the signal cuts out.

I’d rather not replace the PSU if I don’t have to, especially since I’m not having issues with slow boots.
