I recently bought a Samsung 990 PRO 2TB SSD, and it's been working great—until about a week ago when it started losing its available space. One moment it shows up in my devices, but the storage appears empty. I managed to fix it temporarily, but it just happened again. I'm getting really tired of redownloading everything. Should I be worried about a mechanical failure or is there something else going on? I could really use some advice!

It sounds like more of a glitch than a full-on hardware failure. One troubleshooting step you can try is to open your command prompt, type "E:" (or whatever letter your SSD is), and then run "dir" to see if you can access the files that way. This can help rule out any graphical glitches Windows might be causing.
Just a thought: where did you buy the SSD? Sometimes counterfeit drives can appear as larger capacities than they actually are, and they start deleting files without you knowing. I’d recommend running a tool like H2testw to verify the actual storage capacity you have.
Have you checked if your SSD is partitioned? If it’s split into multiple partitions, that could cause some confusion about available space. You can find out by going to Disk Management on Windows. Just hit Windows + X and select it from the list. It may help give you a better idea of what’s going on with your drive.
Yeah, I ended up looking at it, and it actually is split into two different partitions. Not sure how that happened!
I got it from a well-known electronics store in Finland, so I doubt it's fake, but I appreciate the tip.
