Why Does My PC Keep Freezing After a Long Break?

Hey everyone, I need some help with my PC. I just got back from a 3-month holiday, and now it keeps freezing up while I'm gaming. Sometimes it happens every few hours, and the whole screen just freezes. I ran stress tests on my components, and both the GPU and CPU passed. I also tested the SSD and found a lot of issues, so I replaced it with a new one, thinking that was the problem. However, the freezing is still happening, though not as often as before. I've made sure all drivers and the BIOS are up-to-date. Here's my setup: RAM is Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz with 32GB total, CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600X, PSU is Legion GX Pro 850W, and I have a high-end GPU (ASUS ROG Strix OC 12GB GeForce RTX 4070 TI). Any ideas on what else could be causing this?

What exactly do you mean by 'crashing'? Is it a blue screen or does the PC just power off? That detail could help pinpoint the issue a bit more.

It’s not crashing like that. The whole PC just freezes, and I can’t do anything to get it back. I have to force restart, and then it boots up normally.

If all else fails and you can't find a solution, you might genuinely have to consider reformatting Windows. It's a hassle, but sometimes it resolves lingering issues that other troubleshooting won't fix.

Have you tried checking the Event Viewer for any error messages when it freezes? That might give you insight into what's going wrong before you resort to reformatting Windows, which I know you want to avoid.
