Why does my PC shut down completely when gaming?

I've recently noticed that my PC shuts down abruptly (like an instant power cut) whenever I'm running demanding games or putting a heavy load on the GPU. It used to work perfectly fine after I bought it, but now this issue keeps happening. Here are my specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- GPU: PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 OC Triple Fan
- Motherboard: GIGABYTE B850 GAMING X WIFI6E
- PSU: Antec Atom G750 Gold SEMI-MODULAR 750W

I've already tried cleaning and reseating the RAM, but the problem persists. Could it be that the power supply is tripping? By the way, I ran OCCT a couple of weeks ago and it didn't show any temperature issues, so I doubt that's the problem. Any advice on what I should test next?

Make sure your BIOS and CPU/GPU drivers are up to date as well. If there's too much power demand from your setup, it could be causing the shutdowns. Keep an eye on your overall power consumption when gaming!

Before replacing anything, check your temperatures. If they are within normal ranges, inspect the 12VHPWR cable pins for any visual damage or wear. It could help rule out potential issues with power delivery before you dive into replacing parts.

It sounds like your PSU might be the culprit. A lot of people have had success by replacing theirs when experiencing similar shutdowns. Just make sure to use only the cables that came with the new power supply, and if you're using extensions, it's best to remove those and try without them.

I had a similar shutdown issue with my build, and it turned out to be my PSU as well. I updated the BIOS, thinking that might help since it wasn't happening all the time. After that update, the crashes stopped completely. Since you mentioned your PSU is older, maybe consider a replacement if other fixes don't work.

I've seen issues like this before, and it usually points to a defective PSU or motherboard. It'd be unusual for it to be a thermal issue since those often show gradual performance dips first. If you swap to a more reliable power supply, that might fix it.
