Why Does My PC Shut Off When I Bump the Desk?

Hey everyone, I'm new here! I'm having a weird issue with my PC: whenever it's running a heavy game, even the slightest tap on the desk—like putting down a water bottle or bumping my knee against the table—causes my PC to go a little haywire. The fans start spinning loudly, the monitor loses signal, and my friends on the call can still hear me for a bit, but then that cuts out too. The computer doesn't shut off automatically; I have to turn it off manually. I'm wondering if there's a loose connection somewhere. Could it be the power supply acting up? Any ideas?

Could you do me a favor? Snap a pic of your case setup, and also check the CPU and GPU temperatures when they're working hard. It might give us some clues.

Sure thing! I've got a pre-built Asus PC with 8 GB of RAM. Do you think taking pictures from both sides of the case would help?

I've had similar issues when my RAM was loose. Try reseating the RAM and see if that improves things!

It sounds like something might not be seated correctly. I'd recommend checking to make sure all your components are snugly fitted. Sometimes if something's a little loose, it can lead to issues like yours.

Totally agree! If something slips out, you could end up causing real damage. I had a similar situation with my GPU fitting poorly because of some heat shields on the motherboard.

Make sure all the GPU and motherboard cables are fully inserted. It might sound basic, but loose connections can really mess things up.
