I've noticed that while playing a game that uses about 14GB of my RAM, the Snipping Tool causes my PC to flicker and crash due to hitting the RAM limit. It seems like Snipping Tool itself is consuming 1-2GB of RAM when I try to take a screenshot, which doesn't happen with other games that use less memory. I have a pagefile set up, but I'm puzzled as to why the Snipping Tool would need so much memory in this situation.

I totally get that! I play modded RimWorld, and I've had to manage my RAM usage super carefully. Even with everything else closed, the Snipping Tool seems to push me over the edge. It's frustrating because it shouldn’t take that much when I just want to grab a screenshot!
Having 16 GB of RAM is decent, but if you're running other apps while gaming, it can quickly add up. Windows, the game, and any other software can exceed the available RAM easily. If possible, think about upgrading to 32 GB, especially if you're encountering these crashes with RAM-heavy games.
Could you post a screenshot from Task Manager showing Snipping Tool using that 1-2 GB of RAM? It would help to see what's happening. Also, have you considered using different software for taking screenshots while gaming? Sometimes built-in tools aren't optimized for high-performance applications.
