I'm curious about the upgrade process from Windows Home to Pro. It seems like every time I use the command line to upgrade, it starts with a generic key before using the one I've purchased. What's the reasoning behind this? I've always been able to just use the DISM Set-Edition command on Server Eval installs with a valid Standard key to upgrade them directly, but maybe that's due to the similarity between Eval and Standard. Could the differences between Home and Pro be why we need that extra step?
