Why has my external SSD writing speed suddenly dropped?

I recently bought a Samsung T9 external SSD, which was performing well with read and write speeds around 450 MB/s when plugged into a 3.2 Gen 1 port. However, I've noticed that my writing speeds have unexpectedly halved, dropping to about 210 MB/s, while the read speed remains at 450 MB/s. I've kept the SSD idle with TRIM active for quite a while, but I'm not sure if the cache is empty. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this issue?

Since your SSD is new, if you think it's defective, you might want to check the return policy. Just saying, sometimes these things happen out of the box. If it's malfunctioning, it’s worth getting it replaced.

I might try to return it, but I'm not sure they would accept it since I've used it a bit.
