Why is DDR5 RAM Capacity So Limited?

I'm currently upgrading my PC for gaming and video editing, but I'm finding the RAM options really disappointing. While DDR5 is essential for its benefits in gaming, I'm frustrated that the 6000 CL30 spec is stuck at a max of 32GB. I made the mistake of only getting 32GB for editing 4K video, which turned out to be painfully slow. I need at least 64GB now. I've heard there are issues with running 4x16GB 6000 CL30. If that's the case, I'd prefer to stick to 2 DIMMs to maintain performance. Am I likely to notice a speed drop if I go for more capacity? What motherboard should I consider for this setup?

I'm using a 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 kit right now. No issues with stability for me, but I've heard some might have trouble. Make sure your motherboard is compatible. It really depends on what you plan to do with the RAM.

You're not limited to just 32GB sticks; you can find 64GB and even 96GB DDR5-6000 CL30 kits available. Just check out brands like Corsair. But yeah, running four sticks can cause instability, especially on AMD boards. Two DIMMs will usually give you better speeds and lower chances of errors.

The issue largely stems from how consumer motherboards handle multiple DIMMs. With higher capacity sticks like 32GB, it's like you're running four chips, which can overwhelm the memory controller leading to errors. Server boards handle these conditions much better than typical consumer boards.
