I'm running an Intel HD 4400 graphics card on Linux Mint, and despite having the latest drivers installed, Firefox just doesn't seem to utilize the VA-API drivers anymore. I used to have access to the setting "media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled," but now I can't even find it. What's the deal with this change? I've switched to Brave and managed to get it working with VA-API using some flags, but I really want to figure this out with Firefox.

It’s interesting that you’re asking why they would drop VA-API support. I found this article that might shed some light on Mozilla's direction with the browser. It has thoughts on how they’ve been shifting their focus: [Mozilla Changes](https://calpaterson.com/mozilla.html). What do you think?
Could you share your system specs and the OS you're running? I have an Intel i3, 4th gen, with 8GB DDR3 RAM, and I'm on Linux Mint too. I checked out some Firefox tweaks but hit a wall after trying so many things. Maybe we can troubleshoot together!
Have you thought about trying Pale Moon? I find it works better with older systems since the newer versions of Firefox can feel pretty bloated. There’s also LibreWolf, which is a more private and lightweight version of Firefox. Might be worth a shot!
Firefox works fine for me on an HD 4000, which is a bit older. Have you checked the "Codec Support Information" in about:support? That might give us a clue about what’s going wrong.
