Why is ghosting worse on my ultrawide monitor compared to my regular monitor?

I have two Sceptre monitors: a 16:9 144hz model and a 21:9 200hz ultrawide model, both VA displays. I've noticed that the ghosting is significantly worse on the ultrawide monitor. I'm curious if this is typical behavior for these types of monitors and if there are any ways to reduce the ghosting. I've already set the refresh rates to their native settings and tried adjusting the overdrive settings, but it hasn't made a difference.

Yeah, VA panels often have ghosting issues, especially if overdrive settings aren't optimal. It's worth disabling overdrive since that might help, but it's common for some VA monitors to have worse ghosting than others. The difference between your two models, even if they're similar, isn't really surprising.

Some VA panels indeed perform differently. Depending on the specific models, one can have much better ghosting characteristics than another, even within the same brand. Sometimes, a higher refresh rate can exacerbate ghosting issues, so it could just be a case of the ultrawide being less capable in that regard.
