Why is GRUB Not Recognizing My Linux Kernel on an External Drive?

I've installed Linux Mint on my external drive, and while everything else works fine, GRUB keeps sending me to a minimal bash-like menu. I have to manually enter the kernel each time I boot. Even after updating GRUB or reinstalling it through the terminal, the issue persists. I've also disabled secure boot without any improvement. I'm really stuck and would appreciate any help or guidance on this!

It sounds like GRUB might be installed on the wrong disk. You should reinstall GRUB while specifically targeting your external drive. To check what's going wrong, run `lsblk -f` in the terminal and share the results. You can also try using `sudo efibootmgr -v` in Mint to see if your GRUB entry points to the wrong EFI partition.

If you had other Linux installations on your system, it's possible you've got remnants of old GRUB setups on your EFI partition, which could cause it to boot incorrectly. Double-checking those partitions may help!

Check out some resources that could be useful! Searching for GRUB issues on Linux forums could give you more insight. Just remember to keep backups and maybe test things in a VM first to avoid messing up your setup!
