I recently installed Linux Mint on my SSD after noticing that Windows 10 is losing support. However, my first impressions are concerning; the system seems slower than what I experienced with Windows. Even though it's on an SSD and not an M.2, the boot process takes longer, the frame rate feels sluggish, applications are slow to open, and everything generally feels clunky. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

I have Mint on a Samsung 870 SSD with an RTX 3080 and Ryzen 5700X. Performance has been good overall, but make sure your RAM is configured properly; 32GB should be enough for smooth performance.
I think it depends on your hardware and setup, but my experience with Mint has been that it feels quite fast and lightweight compared to Windows 11. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but you'll settle in as you get used to it.
Boot time can be around 40 seconds on a SATA SSD, maybe slower if there are any issues. You should check your boot performance with the `systemd-analyze` command. Also, make sure you have the proper GPU drivers installed, especially if you have NVIDIA. Sometimes installations can go wrong, even with Windows!
Are you running the Cinnamon desktop environment? I found it to be less efficient. Switching to an XFCE environment really sped things up for me on older hardware.
First, make sure your GPU drivers are installed correctly using the Driver Manager. Sometimes Mint doesn't pre-install the necessary drivers, particularly for NVIDIA graphics cards. That could definitely slow things down.
I updated the drivers, and it seemed to improve things, but it's still not perfect.

I checked my boot time and it was over a minute. Looks like I need to optimize that.
