Why is MSI Center Service Causing My CPU to Lag When Launching Games?

Hey everyone! I'm hoping to get some expert insights on an issue I've been dealing with. Whenever I try to launch games like Rematch or Tarkov, my entire PC lags heavily. Task Manager shows my CPU stuck at just 16% usage and a frequency of only 0.39 to 0.40 GHz. It gets so bad that I can't even watch YouTube videos without them stuttering. After the game fails to launch, everything goes back to normal. I've done a ton of troubleshooting: tweaking the paging file, modifying various BIOS settings (like power limits and CPU Lite Load), using the Ultimate Performance power plan, and even disabling background apps. What ended up working was doing a clean boot, which let the games launch perfectly. I eventually found that the problem stems from the MSI Center Service. If I disable it, everything runs smoothly. But I'm left with a few questions: 1) Why does the MSI Center Service cause this issue? Could it be due to buggy sensor polling or a conflict with CPU control? 2) Is the CPU Lite Load Mode 12 I'm using safe for long-term use, or should I consider switching back to Mode 18? 3) If I completely remove MSI Center, is there a chance it will still create problems, or is simply disabling it enough? 4) Lastly, is there anything else I could be missing? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Resetting drivers and firmware can help, especially if a recent update triggered these issues. Sometimes a clean uninstall and reinstall of the problematic software can solve lingering issues. If you choose to remove MSI Center completely, it should be fine as long as your other drivers are up to date.

It sounds like the MSI Center Service may be causing conflicts with how your CPU manages its resources. Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with performance due to their background processes. You might want to check if there are updates for the service or even consider using alternatives that don't impact your system as much. Also, CPU Lite Load Mode 12 should generally be safe, but keep an eye on temps and performance – if you notice any overheating, you might want to adjust. It's great to hear that disabling the service has helped though!

I agree with you. Cleaning out any unnecessary software is a solid approach. If you feel like the service isn’t beneficial after disabling it, I'd suggest removing it completely to prevent any residual issues.

You've mentioned rolling back a Windows update, and you're not alone! Some updates can cause unexpected issues, especially with hardware compatibility. If you’re still having problems after rolling back, I’d recommend resetting your power management settings to default and seeing if that helps.
