Why is my computer restarting randomly without any clear cause?

I'm dealing with this super frustrating issue where my computer keeps restarting unexpectedly, and I can't seem to pinpoint the cause. At first, there were no blue screens of death (BSOD), but now half the time I get them, along with a variety of error codes like SERVICE_SYSTEM_EXCEPTION and MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. I already replaced my CPU at a tech's suggestion, but the problem persists. I've run multiple diagnostics like the Windows memory diagnostic and Memtest86, both came back clear. I've tried swapping out my power supply, and running hardware tests, but the system is stable during those tests. My computer reboots whether I'm doing something intensive or just browsing the web! If anyone has any insights or troubleshooting tips, I'd really appreciate it. Here's a brief rundown of my setup: MSI Z790-P Wifi motherboard, Intel i5-12600KF CPU, 32GB RAM, and a GEFORCE RTX 3070 GPU. Also, are there any specific log files I should be looking at for more clues?

It sounds like a tricky issue! Since you’ve run multiple memory tests and swapped the CPU, I’d suggest checking for any potential power delivery issues. Sometimes, a failing power supply can cause random restarts, even if it looks fine externally. If you have access to a different PSU, try swapping it out and see if the problem persists. Also, keep an eye on the temperatures using HWInfo, especially during load, just to rule out any thermal issues. Just a thought, did you check the Event Viewer for any critical errors around the time of the restarts? That might give you more clues!

I’d also recommend looking into your motherboard's firmware or BIOS. Sometimes updating to the latest version can resolve unexplained issues. Just make sure to follow the proper update procedures!

From the codes you’re seeing, it could be a RAM issue, even if tests show they're fine. You might want to try running your system with just one stick of RAM at a time, just to see if the problem is isolated to a single module. It could also be an issue with other components like your motherboard or even the CPU itself if it’s still under warranty. Have you tried reaching out to the vendor about potential faulty parts?

I've done the stick test with no luck, but I haven't contacted the vendors yet. Guess that's my next step! Thanks for the suggestion!

Another thought: if you've removed peripherals but the issue continues, sometimes drivers can cause similar issues too. Check if all your drivers, especially the GPU and chipset drivers, are up to date. Also, there's a possibility an overlooked software conflict could lead to these sudden restarts—consider a clean install of Windows to rule that out completely if all else fails!
