Why is my CPU Overheating After Upgrading My GPU?

Hi, I recently upgraded my graphics card from a 4070 to a 5070 Ti, and ever since I installed it, my CPU (5700X3D) has been idling at a scorching 90°C. To make matters worse, when I try to play League of Legends, my frame rates only reach a max of 100 FPS. I'm guessing the overheating is the culprit here. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?

It sounds like there might be an issue with your cooler installation. Make sure you removed any protective plastic from the base of the heatsink. Also, check if the fans are spinning properly. Are you using an AIO cooler or a traditional one?

Just to add, did you apply thermal paste between the CPU and cooler? That’s crucial for heat dissipation!

It’s worth mentioning that if your CPU was running fine before the GPU swap, it’s likely the cooler isn’t seated properly.

What type of cooler do you have? Some may struggle with more power demanding components. If it’s a stock cooler, you might benefit from upgrading to something better designed for higher performance.
