Why is my CPU overheating during gaming?

I've been experiencing some heating issues with my R7 7700X CPU lately. It's cooled by an iCUE Titan 360 RX and came with pre-installed thermal paste. While I'm just running a couple of programs like an RGB software and Steam, the temperatures start around 40 to 50 degrees Celsius. However, when I try playing Minecraft (even with optimized mods), the temperature skyrockets from 60 to 90 degrees in a matter of seconds. Could the thermal paste that came with the AIO cooler be the issue? Also, even launching Discord makes the fans go crazy!

90 degrees is pretty high, but during heavy loads like gaming, it can happen. AMD CPUs, especially yours, can run a bit warm. Keep an eye on it, but if it stays under 88°C, you should be fine. Just double-check that your AIO pump connector is in the right slot on your motherboard and not in a fan header. Adjusting your fan curve might help too.

Yes, I've definitely removed all the plastic! And I’ll check the pump connection to make sure it's set up right. Thanks!

Did you take off the plastic wrap from the cooler? It’s a common mistake, but you need to make sure that’s gone before you install it. Otherwise, the cooler won't make good contact with your CPU!
