Why Is My CPU Running Cooler on Linux Mint Compared to Windows?

Hey everyone! I recently made the jump to Linux Mint and I'm really enjoying it, but I've noticed something puzzling with my CPU temperatures. I have a Ryzen 5900X, which always ran a bit hot when I was on Windows. Using Corsair's iCue, I would see temps between 45-55°C at idle. Fast forward to my new setup on Linux, and now it sits at a much cooler 25-35°C at idle and rarely goes over 50°C while gaming, whereas it used to hit 70°C on Windows. I'm wondering if I might be doing something wrong with the way I'm monitoring the temps, or if there could truly be a significant difference just by switching operating systems? Is Windows really that resource-intensive?

It's possible that the default temperature sensors you're monitoring could be different on both OSes. When you were using iCue, there might have been other fan or pump settings affecting those readings too. So, check if you're looking at the same sensor now.

I actually ran sensors without filtering and saw a bunch of different temp readings. There's one for the CPU and others for the motherboard and VRM, but some reported -40°C. Should I be concerned that certain sensors aren't working?
