Why is my CPU temperature increasing after upgrading to a PNY RTX 5090?

I recently upgraded my GPU from a 7800XT to a PNY RTX 5090 while using a 7800X3D CPU. Since the upgrade, I've noticed my CPU temperatures during gaming have jumped to between 80–87°C, compared to the previous 70–75°C range with my old GPU. I haven't made any changes to my BIOS settings, and this increase in temperature seems consistent across all games. Is this a common issue after a GPU upgrade, and what can I do to lower the CPU temperature?

I mean, the PNY RTX 5090 is more powerful, so it’s likely running hotter. If the cooler was disturbed during installation, that might be contributing too. Try putting the old GPU back in to see if the temps drop. Also, increasing your fan speeds could help a bit.

It’s possible that your CPU is boosting more with the new GPU because it can push more frames. With a better GPU, your CPU might be hitting its limits more often. That could explain the higher temps. Just a thought!

Yeah, that's definitely something I've noticed too. I watched some benchmarks where the newer CPUs had better temperatures even with high-end GPUs, but maybe your CPU is reaching its peak performance much more often now.

Many people overlook how the RTX 30-50 cards exhaust hot air directly above the CPU cooler. This can really crank up the temps if you have a traditional tower cooler. Consider looking into liquid cooling solutions, even an AIO (All-In-One) cooler. They can significantly help with CPU temps.

Thanks for the tip! Is liquid cooling hard to set up? I've only ever used my Deepcool Ak620 tower fan.
