Why is My FPS So Low Playing Fortnite with an RTX 3060?

I recently got my hands on a PC with an NVIDIA RTX 3060 graphics card and I'm using a 180Hz monitor, but I'm seriously struggling with low FPS while playing Fortnite. I don't know much else about the PC since it was handed down to me. Even after setting the game to maximum performance in the NVIDIA control panel, my FPS just caps at 60. I've tried turning off VSync, updated my drivers, and the best I get is around 80-100 FPS on default settings. I've experienced 200+ FPS before without changing any major settings. Can anyone help me figure out what's going wrong?

To boost your FPS, you might want to try adjusting some in-game settings. Lowering the textures, shading, and reducing the draw distance can help. Also, make sure you've got Windows Game Mode activated and set your power settings to "High Performance". If your GPU supports it, enabling DLSS might improve your performance as well. Don't forget to close any unnecessary background applications to free up resources. Lastly, check that XMP profiles are enabled in your BIOS to maximize your RAM speed. If you’re feeling adventurous, MSI Afterburner can be used for a bit of overclocking, but it usually only leads to a slight FPS increase.

I’ve tried everything you mentioned, but my FPS hasn’t improved—sometimes it even drops lower. Any other ideas?

Also, double-check that your monitor is plugged into the GPU’s output and not into the HDMI port on your motherboard. That’ll definitely impact the performance!

Just making sure, are you certain you're not running games off an integrated GPU if your CPU has one? That could be a real FPS killer if your monitor is connected to the wrong port.
