Why Is My Fresh Windows 11 Installation So Slow and Crashing When Playing Games?

I'm looking for some help with a fresh installation of Windows 11 on my partner's PC. Ever since we reinstalled Windows using a bootable USB (after dealing with some viruses), the system has been running really slow when opening programs like Explorer and settings. We also keep getting asked to choose which installation of Windows to boot into. Additionally, games like TSW6 and Sim Rail 2 are crashing randomly, although Euro Truck Simulator seems to work fine. Should we consider reinstalling Windows again, or could there be issues with the RAM or GPU? Here are the specs: Ryzen 5700x3D, 32GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 RAM, Nvidia 5060 Ti, and an ASUS B550M A motherboard. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked if all your drivers are installed? After the Windows reinstall, you need to ensure that everything, especially the graphics drivers, are updated. Sometimes, skipping this step can lead to performance issues and crashes in games. Just confirm that you're fully up to date!

Yeah, we did update to the latest version of Windows 11 and installed the Nvidia drivers. We also ran Malwarebytes, so I think we're okay on that front.

It sounds like you might have remnants of the previous Windows installation if it's still asking you to choose which one to boot. I recommend completely wiping the disk before reinstalling Windows. Use a USB bootable drive made on a different system to mitigate any virus issues. Also, make sure to unplug any extra drives during the installation process. Good luck with it!
