Why is my GPU temperature spiking?

I've been noticing that my GPU, a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, seems to be running hotter than usual lately, especially when I'm gaming with titles like Counter Strike 2 or Helldivers. Normally, it sits around 110°F, but now it's hitting between 155°F and 160°F. This is a noticeable increase, and I'm starting to wonder if it's time to replace the thermal paste and pads or if there's something else at play. Has anyone else dealt with this issue or have any advice?

And hey, consider using Celsius measurements instead of Fahrenheit! It’s more universal in the tech community, and it might help you compare temps better.

Celsius is great and all, but I’m a fan of my freedom units!

Yeah, a repasting could definitely help! If the thermal paste is old, it can lose its effectiveness and cause higher temperatures. Just make sure to clean off the old paste properly before applying the new one. Good luck!

Thanks! I'll give that a try and see if it helps.

It sounds like dust buildup might be your issue. After a few years, dust can really block airflow and hinder cooling performance. Even if you clean regularly, make sure you’re checking all the fans and heatsinks thoroughly.

It is around 5 years old. I do my best to keep dust away, but I’ll be extra thorough next time!
