Why is my home IP getting blacklisted all of a sudden?

I've been using my home desktop for activities like gaming, browsing, and coding, as well as occasional torrenting with a VPN. I move it between school and home a couple of times a year. Recently, I've noticed that many sites are blocking my home IP address. For instance, when I try to access Google or Reddit in incognito mode, I keep getting captchas or messages saying my request was blocked due to network policy, especially with sites using Cloudflare. I don't understand why this started happening suddenly since the VPN, which I only use for torrenting, isn't causing issues for my home IP. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Check whether you have any unusual network activity. If there's a device on your network that's infected or misconfigured, it could be causing the spikes in traffic that trigger these blocks.

It's possible that your home IP got flagged because of activity associated with VPNs. Some blacklists may have linked your IP to known VPN addresses that exhibit suspicious use. You can try switching your VPN server for torrenting or just not using it at all to see if that helps. If it's the home IP that's causing the problem, you might want to ask your ISP for a new one.

VPNs with torrenting capabilities often get blacklisted because of that activity. Just make sure you’re using a different server or location on your VPN, as many of those IPs are known to be problematic.

Did your IP change recently? Things like resetting your router or even power outages can lead to getting assigned a new IP, which might have previously been marked for suspicious activity. If you haven’t intentionally changed anything, this could be the reason for the issues.
