I recently updated my Avast antivirus on my Windows 10 PC, and ever since then, I've been facing really slow internet issues. Some websites like ESPN and Reddit take forever to load or even time out completely. I've tried using different browsers, but it's the same frustrating experience across the board. My laptop (which doesn't have Avast) and my phone load these sites just fine, so it seems to be specific to my desktop. I also noticed that my Gmail is responding slowly when I try to select emails.
I even uninstalled Avast completely using their removal tool, but that didn't help. I ran the flushdns command, but still no improvements. I did a speed test and got 80 Mbps down but only 0.08 Mbps up. When I switched to Wi-Fi instead of using a hardwired connection, the pages loaded much faster, which has me wondering if it's an issue with my Ethernet connection. Any suggestions for fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like it's time to ditch Avast! A lot of users are finding it problematic these days. I’d suggest switching to Microsoft Defender; it’s free and does a solid job at keeping your system safe. Also, make sure your browsers are up to date, or try using a different one to see if that helps.
Unfortunately, the best fix might be to reinstall Windows. I know that sounds drastic, but many users are recommending it for issues like these. They say that Avast can sometimes leave remnants that cause ongoing problems even after uninstalling.
Yeah, Avast isn't what it used to be. Just remove it and stick with the built-in Windows security. A lot of folks are saying it could mess with your DNS settings too. You might want to check that out.
Thanks! I’ll definitely try updating my browsers and see if that improves anything.
