Why Is My Internet Speed Much Slower Than My Brother’s?

I'm really struggling with my internet speed — I only get about 10 Mbps, while my brother, who shares the same room and has the same connection, gets around 100 Mbps. I don't understand why there's such a huge difference! Can anyone help me troubleshoot this issue?

First off, make sure to run a speed test using a reliable site like speedof.me to see exactly what speeds you're getting right now. That’ll give you a clearer picture.

I did the speed test and it looks like I'm not even hitting 15 Mbps. What now?

Ah, got it. Let's check other factors!

Check if you're using the 2.4GHz band instead of 5GHz. Your brother might be watching in the faster band while you're stuck on the slower one. That could be the reason for his high speed compared to yours!

Thanks for all the input! After checking everything, I think it might be my Wi-Fi adapter after all. I’ll keep monitoring it after switching settings. You guys are awesome!

What device are you using to test your internet? If you're on an older laptop with a weak Wi-Fi card, that could really slow you down. Try to find out its specs and compare them to your brother’s.

I'm using my laptop, and it’s definitely older—maybe that's part of the problem?

Make sure your Wi-Fi dongle is up to par. Older models can’t handle high speeds. A Wi-Fi 6 USB dongle might be the upgrade you need if you're on a slow one.
