I've been experiencing a pretty frustrating issue with my internet speeds while using Windows 11 Pro on my Gigabyte Z790 motherboard. I recently did a speed test with Cloudflare and only got 10 Mbps, which is way below what I expected. However, when I tested the same USB-C network adapter on my MacBook, I got a blazing 540 Mbps. I've tried a clean install of Windows 11 Pro, but I'm still not sure what's causing this bottleneck on my Windows setup. What could be wrong that limits my speeds to just 10 Mbps?

It sounds like you might not have the right driver installed for your network adapter. Sometimes Windows will use a generic driver that doesn’t perform well. Have you confirmed if you’re using the correct driver for your Realtek 2.5 GbE LAN chipset? Double-check that first and see if it makes a difference.
Another thing to check is the cabling. You mentioned using Cat 5e — it should support gigabit speeds, but it’s worth checking the quality and connections. Try different cables if possible, or test your adapter on another device to rule out hardware issues.
If the driver isn’t the issue, you might want to tweak some settings. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings, then find your network adapter. Right-click on it and go to Properties. Under the Advanced tab, try changing the 'Speed & Duplex' option. Set it to 1Gb Full Duplex if it’s not already. Just make sure to apply the changes and check if it helps.
