Hey everyone, I need some help figuring out why my laptop, which has been around for over 2 years, is running slow during games. Here are the specs:
- CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H (2.70GHz)
- RAM: 8.00 GB (7.71 GB usable)
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050
- Storage: Lexar 512GB SSD
I've noticed that when I play Valorant, I'm only getting around 90 FPS on the lowest graphics settings, and it sometimes drops down to 50 FPS. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this issue? Thanks in advance for your help!

Make sure to open your task manager while playing and look at your GPU utilization. If it's low, you could be using the integrated graphics instead of your dedicated NVIDIA card. This is a common issue that could explain the performance drop.
Having 8GB of RAM can definitely limit your gaming performance. While it might seem sufficient, many modern games benefit from having more RAM. Usually, for games like Valorant, you should be hitting around 200 FPS on low settings, so something's not right here. I wouldn't say RAM is your only issue, though. You might want to check if your GPU is being fully utilized while gaming, as sometimes the laptop can default to integrated graphics instead of the RTX 3050.
