I'm using an HP Victus 15 gaming laptop, and I've noticed that my RAM usage is quite high even when I'm not really doing much. I suspect this could be slowing down my laptop. I've attached screenshots of my task manager for reference. Any ideas?

Why do people still get just one stick of RAM? It's a mystery! Maybe this user just doesn't know better; their laptop might've come that way or there's a hardware issue at play.
High RAM usage can be pretty common with 8GB these days. You might want to consider upgrading to at least 16GB. Also, check if both your graphics cards are enabled; sometimes, onboard GPUs can consume a bit of memory without being needed. That could help free up some RAM.
For comparison, my idle usage is somewhat similar, so it looks like you're in the typical range.
It sounds normal to me. High RAM usage isn’t necessarily the reason for your laptop running slow.
It seems more like a speed issue; your RAM could be running at half its potential.
You can easily add RAM for a better experience. A second stick of 8GB is around $22, while a single 16GB stick goes for about $45. I'd recommend getting the most you can afford. I recently put a mix of 16GB and 8GB in my girlfriend's laptop, and it runs much smoother. Dual-channel RAM can really help improve your system's performance!
Just a heads-up, dual or single channel is based on the motherboard configuration, not just the RAM sticks themselves. It's good to know for anyone looking to upgrade!
Your laptop isn't truly idling; it's probably running various background processes. For example, the "Windows Module Installer" might be downloading updates or other stuff in the background, which is why you're seeing around 80% RAM usage. And with only 8GB installed, that’s expected. Just be mindful that some of it might be allocated for the integrated GPU, which is normal, so there's no need to stress about it too much.
Yeah, it’s likely a beginner mistake, but sometimes hardware can fail slowly without completely breaking down the system.
