Why is my Linux installation experience so inconsistent?

Hey everyone! I've recently decided to switch to Linux, but my experience has been quite mixed. I started with Fedora Workstation on a second SSD, and it worked great for a couple of days. However, I didn't like the GNOME user interface, so I switched to Kubuntu, expecting to enjoy KDE Plasma. Unfortunately, I encountered random app crashes that didn't happen on Fedora. I then went back to Fedora, but I faced issues with the software app not loading. How can I end up with such inconsistency when using the same ISO for the new Fedora install and the latest version of Kubuntu? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

It’s totally understandable that switching between Fedora and Kubuntu could lead to issues since they're quite different. You might want to consider trying the Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop Edition instead of jumping to Kubuntu. Also, creating a live Fedora ISO can help you test different desktop environments without installing them right away, plus it's a great way to check hardware compatibility. A Ventoy USB drive could let you load multiple ISOs for easy testing!

I get that Fedora and Kubuntu are different. I had previously used Ubuntu on a VM, which is why I chose Kubuntu this time. I’ll try out the KDE version of Fedora!
