Why is my new RAM causing BSOD on boot?

I recently upgraded my HP Compaq 8100 Elite SFF from 2GB to 16GB of Crucial DDR3L 1600 UDIMM RAM. While the BIOS recognizes the 16GB, I keep getting a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) right after the Windows logo appears. The 2GB RAM works fine in the same slots. I've already replaced the RAM sticks thinking it might be a faulty module, but I'm still facing the same issue. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

What specific RAM modules are you using, and how many slots does your motherboard have? Sometimes, older motherboards only work with 4GB modules. If you're using 2x8GB or 1x16GB, that might not be supported. Double-check that!

Make sure to check for any BIOS updates. It's possible that your motherboard just doesn't support the new RAM capacity, or there could be compatibility issues with the RAM itself. Just a heads up, finding updates for such an old model might be challenging though!

Have you tried running Memtest86? It's a great tool to check for any memory errors. If the RAM is incompatible or faulty, it might show you what's going wrong. Give it a shot!

You should definitely get your BSOD dump files for better analysis. If you can access Windows or Safe Mode, check the C:WindowsMinidump folder for any dump files. Zip that folder and upload it to a file sharing site like Catbox or MediaFire. More dump files can help pinpoint the issue!

Thanks for the tip! I'll check for those dump files.
