Why is my NVMe drive so slow on Windows 11?

I've got a laptop running Windows 11 with an Intel i5 12500H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050. I'm using a Micron 3400 NVMe SSD, but it's taking an hour to transfer a 7GB file! Can anyone help me figure out what's going wrong?

Just to add, if your NVMe and GPU are sharing PCIe lanes, that could slow things down too. But given that it's a laptop, the GPU is likely on a separate lane. If you've noted that the task manager shows unusual activity, that could provide more insights on the performance. Your drive should be fast, so a transfer taking this long is definitely something to troubleshoot.

It sounds like you’re experiencing some slow transfer speeds. Just to confirm, is it really taking an hour for the Windows 11 ISO? If that's the case, it's definitely not normal. You might want to check if your NVMe drive is properly seated and whether it’s in a dedicated M.2 slot. Sometimes, shared PCIe lanes with other devices can impact speed.

Before diving into fixes, just a heads-up—changing BIOS settings can lead to data loss, so make sure you have backups! Can you clarify if that 7GB file is one single file or a collection of smaller files? Also, where exactly are you copying the file to—another NVMe drive or an external HDD?
