Why is my PC giving me small electric shocks?

Hey folks, I'm dealing with a strange issue where my PC is giving me small electric shocks whenever I touch the case. It's causing problems with my keyboard, mouse, and even my headphones. Sometimes the keyboard doesn't register key presses, the mouse seems unresponsive, and I get static noises through my headphones. I'm not super tech-savvy, and while I've had this PC setup for years, it seems to be failing me lately. I'm really concerned about how dangerous this might be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I can share some pictures if needed. My specs are: PSU - CX750, GPU - 3060Ti, CPU - Ryzen 5 5600X.

You could also be experiencing a live wire issue, though this is less common. If there was a leak in your wiring, it would usually trip your circuit breaker. But first, it might be worth ruling out static electricity. You can test your own static buildup by having someone hold an earthed device and see if you give them a zap after walking around. Just be careful with these things.

It sounds like you might be dealing with a grounding issue. Have you checked if your socket is properly grounded? In the UK, all sockets should be grounded, but it's worth double-checking. If everything is wired correctly, the shocks could be caused by you building up static electricity, especially if you’re wearing certain types of shoes or if the air is really dry. Try walking around a bit and then touching something earthed, like a radiator, to see if you're the one building up static. If that’s the case, wearing shoes that don't build up static might help.

Given the level of disruption you're experiencing, it could definitely be related to a lack of humidity. Static buildup tends to be worse in dry conditions, which can lead to shocks and even issues with electronic devices. If you can, try using a humidifier in your room for a while and see if that improves the situation.
