Why is my PC only showing 3200 MT/s for RAM speed?

I recently installed a second RAM stick to my PC, and both sticks are Crucial DDR4 16GB modules rated at 3200 MHz. I've also enabled the XMP profile, but my system is still showing a maximum speed of 3200 MT/s. Can anyone explain why that is?

Just to clarify, 3200 MT/s actually refers to the effective data rate, which is about 1600 MHz in terms of raw clock speed. It's common for DDR4 RAM to show that kind of speed, so nothing seems wrong with your RAM sticks. It's just a marketing thing that can confuse people!

Oh got it! So 3200 MT/s is normal when using two identical 3200 MHz RAM sticks.

What speed were you expecting to see? Just checking, but is the XMP profile set to 3200 MHz? That should be the target speed if everything is configured correctly.
