I recently took my PC to a shop for a complimentary cleaning service. The technician cleaned everything up, organized the cables, and updated the BIOS. However, when I picked it up, he mentioned that the temperature was a bit high. I brushed it off, thinking it wasn't a major issue since my CPU usually maxed out at 70°C even during intensive gaming. But once I got home, I noticed the CPU was hitting 70°C with only 16% usage, and it sometimes spikes to 90°C just by opening a game like Resident Evil 6. I checked the BIOS settings, and nothing seemed changed. I'm starting to wonder if the new BIOS version might be the culprit or if the heat sink was damaged during the cleaning. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! My specs are Ryzen 7 7700X, RTX 5070, and 32GB of RAM.

It sounds like your CPU cooler might need re-pasting or there could be an issue with it altogether. If you're using an AIO cooler, make sure to set the pump speed to around 90% in the BIOS. The Ryzen 7700X can handle temps below 95°C, but those high spikes you're seeing are not ideal. Often, Ryzen CPUs, especially the X models, can run hot. It might just be that your cooler isn’t doing its job properly for this CPU.

Thanks for the tips! I'm not sure re-pasting would help since I did that six months ago. I did notice some parts of the heat sink looked off when I checked. It’s reflecting light in a weird way, so I'm wondering if it got damaged somehow during the cleaning.
