A few weeks ago, I replaced the thermal paste on my PC for the first time in nearly two years, using Arctic MX-2. Since then, the temperatures have skyrocketed—even while in BIOS or when there are no programs running. I ended up using too much paste initially to try and combat the overheating issues, but it still overheats after a few hours of gaming. I switched to a better thermal paste, Arctic MX-6, and applied the correct amount, but I'm still having problems. For instance, playing War Thunder can push my CPU to 110°C unless I enable V-sync, which is alarming because even stress tests like Cinebench don't hit those temperatures. Also, when starting a world in Minecraft, the lag is severe, and the PC shut off due to CPU protection. This is puzzling since I have an AIO liquid cooler (Lian LI Galahad 360) that I had no problems with prior to this. My CPU is a Ryzen 7 5800X, which is known to run hot, but I've never faced issues until now. I'm stuck since I've tried everything I can think of—any suggestions? Also, English isn't my first language, so I apologize for any mistakes!

It sounds like the mounting might be off. Did you use a star pattern when tightening the cooler? It's also worth checking if the cooler is a bit loose or if there's an air bubble in your AIO setup. And just to be sure, did you accidentally disconnect the power to the pump? Check those it might help!
How much thermal paste did you use? I personally find that a 4mm blob in the center of the CPU works best. After that, you should tighten the cooler evenly, gradually, and let it spread out. This method has worked well for me over the years. Just something to consider!
