Why is my PC so slow after not using it for 6 months?

I recently moved from the US to Korea and haven't used my prebuilt PC for about 6 months. Before I left, I had an issue with cold starts that would take me to BIOS due to a message about RAID or optane, but it was working well otherwise, so I didn't worry about fixing it. Now, after switching it on, it's extremely slow—it takes around 7-8 minutes just to reach the login screen, and then another 10 minutes with a white screen before my desktop appears. I noticed in Task Manager that my SSD is transferring data at a painfully low rate of 4-5 KB/s! I ran a check on my hard drive and SSD, and the HDD scanned fine, but the SSD scan took forever. Should I just replace the SSD or could there be another issue? Here are my specs: I3-10100f, GTX 1650 SC Ultra, 16 GB DDR4, 1 TB HDD, 512 GB M.2 SSD.

You might want to check the health of your SSD using software like CrystalDiskMark or CrystalDiskInfo. If it's super slow, there's a good chance the SSD is failing, especially if it has been acting up before. My own M.2 drive started dying after a couple of years—got really sluggish and I even lost some files. Definitely worth checking!

I feel you! It's tough when the system is so sluggish you can't even download a browser. What’s the age of your SSD? Did you notice any warnings before it went downhill?

Yeah, I understand that struggle all too well! It might be time to consider a new SSD if it's giving you that much trouble.
