I recently built my PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G, an MSI GTX 1660 Super, and 8GB of RAM (upgrading to 16GB soon). Initially, I was getting great performance—like 1400 FPS in Minecraft and over 120 FPS in Fortnite on epic settings. But now, after a few months, my games have drastically slowed down. For instance, Fortnite went from 120 FPS to around 40 FPS unexpectedly. Sometimes after shutting down my PC for a while, it plays fine again, but the performance issues keep coming back. Recently, I found that my CPU temps regularly hit 70C while playing at low settings in Valorant, plus I experience frequent freezes that require a restart. I also had a boot issue that the technician fixed by updating the BIOS. Now, my CPU usage is higher than before, and the temperatures seem off—68C even when idle! I'm seeing stutters even in lower-demand games like Terraria. The technician mentioned it could be a PSU issue. Any advice on what could be going wrong with my motherboard or BIOS?

Sounds like something's definitely off with your setup. The GTX 1660 Super typically performs around 300-500 FPS in Minecraft, so those earlier numbers seem way too high. Regarding temperatures, while 70C is below the threshold for your CPU, the rising temps and CPU load could indicate an issue, especially since you're experiencing stuttering. I suggest downloading HWInfo64 to monitor your CPU temps and check for thermal throttling while gaming. Make sure it's staying below 95C while playing; that would help rule out thermal issues. Also, consider checking if new game updates are pushing your GPU harder now than before, which could explain the lower frames.
Your performance drop over time can definitely come from software updates in games. New features might be taxing your GPU differently than when they were first released. Also, you can check powersupply unit (PSU) recommendations for your GPU; if it’s underpowered, it could lead to stutters and freezes. Keeping your drivers updated can also help, as sometimes game updates require the latest drivers to perform optimally.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll check on the drivers and maybe look into my PSU specs further.
I could see that—games evolve and can be more demanding over time. It's a bummer that your rig seems to be struggling now, but monitoring those temps sounds like the best first step!
