Hey everyone! I recently set up a second Samsung 990 Pro SSD in my Gigabyte B550M DS3H motherboard, but I'm noticing some serious performance issues. This SSD is installed in the second M.2 slot, which I know routes through the chipset, so it's expected to be a bit slower than the first slot. However, when I try to install games from Steam, the SSD usage hits 100%, but the write speeds are dropping down to around 20 MB/s, and it gets worse over time. Could this be due to the chipset overheating, or are there some settings I might need to tweak to optimize its performance?

Keep in mind that your SSD's performance can drop if it gets too hot, with a max operating temp of 70°C. You should definitely monitor the temps with HWMonitor or Samsung Magician. That could be an issue if it's getting close to the limit!
Make sure you're not using any SATA ports for HDDs or 2.5" SSDs while running the NVMe SSD. If the HDD isn't even spinning, then it shouldn't be causing issues, but sometimes having too many devices running can affect performance. It’s worth checking.
Did you remember to take off the sticker from the back of the SSD heatsink? That caused overheating issues for my friend's NVMe drive. You might want to check the temperatures using HWMonitor; overheating can definitely slow down your SSD. But I just checked your motherboard, and it doesn't seem to have a heatsink. Checking the drive's health in Windows could also give you more info on the problem.
